Information Literacy Program

The UEAB Library engages its patrons in an Information Literacy program that seeks to make users of information life-long learners who will appreciate the diverse sources of information and the skills to access them.

The United States National Forum on Information Literacy defines information literacy as "... the ability to know when there is a need for information, to be able to identify, locate, evaluate, and effectively use that information for the issue or problem at hand."

According to the well-known definition offered by the American Library Association (ALA) Presidential Committee on Information Literacy, “To be information literate, a person must be able to recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate and use effectively the needed information”

Information literacy then is a crucial skill in the pursuit of knowledge.  It involves recognizing when information is needed and being able to efficiently locate, accurately evaluate, effectively use, and clearly communicate information in various formats.

The programs is structured to take care of the information needs of the UEAB community, to introduce patrons to lifelong learning and research.  It is categorized into Students, Faculty, Staff and Community Members.

The program is delivered on-line via our E-Learning platform for now.  The curriculum for the program can be downloaded only by members of this site.  Register to do so.
