Electronic (Online) Databases

The Library maintains a rich mix of Electronic Databases for the purpose of assisting with reheard and informed academic reading.  Databases at UEAB are in three main categories; Internet Protocol (IP) Authenticated, Pass-worded and Free to Register.  There are two other electronic resources which are described more at the end of this section.  These are the TEEAL Database and Questia Online Library.  You may visit those resources directly from the links on the right.

IP Authenticated Databases (Paid Databases)

These are paid for databases that the Library subscribes to.  All the University's IP Addresses have been authenticated by the services provider so patrons can access these databases without the need for access credentials (usernames and passwords).  A patron thus has to access any of these database while using any of the networks on campus.  Patrons however can access these databases outside the UEAB Campus also and this is achievd by the use of the our Remote Access system which requires the patrons to provide their university ID credentials.  Please use your school ID number for students and employee ID number for workers, as you username.  You may also use the library number you find at the back of the your university ID card as your username.  You password is 1111, which can be changed.

Passworded Databases

These set of databases are those (free) databases that the Library has registered for and makes the credentials for login available to its patrons.  These free databases have carefully been selected due to their quality, to contribute to research.

Free Databases (Open Source) Databases

The rest of the free databases which have not be registered for by the Library are still made available to patrons to register themselves.

Other Electronic Database Resources

The Library subscribes to The Essential Electronic Agricultural Library (TEEAL).  This is a full-text digital library, edited by Cornell University, New York, USA of over 200 journals in the area of Animal Science, Applied Microbiology, Environmental, Ecology, Natural Resources, Food Science, Nutrition, Human Medicine, Physiology, Plant Science and Soil Science.  Use of this resource is limited to the UEAB campus only.

The Library also has credentials for the Questia Virtual Library.  The Questia Library is an online commercial digital library of books and articles that has an academic orientation, with a particular emphasis on books and journal articles in the humanities and social sciences.  Questia also has helpful citation tools.  The credentials for this resources is made available to patrons only upon request, to the Assistant librarian.
